Are You Born Again?

Jesus explained this rebirth to Nicodemus:

“…I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” John 3:5-8 (NIV)

Like Nicodemus, we can miss this truth and we look like this:

We don’t hesitate to check mark “Christian” to identify our spiritual state. We may have been raised in a Christian family. Our heart warms at Christmas memories of baby Jesus in a manger.  Maybe we attend church and do things expected of a Christian.

But something is missing. God feels distant and we live a life that looks like those who didn’t check mark the box “Christian.”

What’s missing? What’s missing is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This is not religion. It’s about relationship when we’re born again in the Spirit. And the transformation of this rebirth from a child of the world (flesh) to a child of God (Spirit) is real.

Why I ask you, “Are you born again?”

Christmas celebrates Jesus’ first coming as a Lamb—laying down His life as a sacrifice for us. Jesus will come a second time as a Lion—to judge and destroy evil.

That’s why I ask, “Are you born again?”
